At 21.59 hours on March 21, 1941, SS Jhelum, with a general cargo including borax and figs from Turkey to Oban, was torpedoed and sunk by U-105 after scattering from SL.68. The position was 21N, 25W (500 miles west of the African coast at Cabo Blanco). The master, 47 crew members and one gunner landed at St. Louis, Senegal and were interned by Vichy France. Eight crew members lost their lives but only one commemoration is known.
