MV INDIAN PRINCE

On November 11, 1943, while in KMS.31, MV Indian Prince was torpedoed and damaged by a German aircraft. The vessel was taken in tow but sank in position 36.10N 00.06W (19 milesNW of Mostaganem). Sixty men survived but one gunner was lost and the 2nd Engineer died of his injuries in 1945 and is buried in Sunderland (Mere Knolls) Cemetery with full war grave status.

TURNER, Able Seaman, STANLEY FRANK, P/JX 289636. H.M.S. President III. Royal Navy. (lost in M.V. Indian Prince). 11th November 1943. Age 23. Son of Robert F. and Edith E. Turner, of Romford, Essex.
