MANAQUI

At 18.24 hours on March 16, 1942, SS Manaqui was detached from the convoy and sailing independantly in position 17.15N, 61.00W (southeast of Barbuda, Leeward Islands) when she was sunk by U-504. There were no survivors. The master (Charles Edward Wordingham), thirty-four crew members and six gunners were lost. They are commemorated on Tower Hill Memorial Panel 67 but only thirty-four are named.
